Proper care and maintenance are essential to ensure that your Ironkast products remain in top condition for years. Here's how to care for each:
Smokers:
After Each Use: Always clean your smoker after use. Let it cool completely, then use a wire brush to remove food particles and debris. For grease, use a mild detergent and warm water, or a cleaner specifically designed for smokers. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely to avoid rust.
During Long Storage: To prevent rust, apply a thin layer of oil (vegetable oil or cooking spray) on the inside surfaces of the smoker. Store the smoker in a dry, covered location.
Avoid Overheating: Overheating your smoker can damage the metal and seasoning. Always monitor the temperature to ensure it stays within the recommended range.
Firepits:
After Each Use: Allow the firepit to cool fully before cleaning. Remove ash and charred debris regularly, as they can lead to rust over time if left unattended.
Seasoning and Protection: Periodically apply a high-heat resistant oil to the surface of your firepit to maintain the finish and prevent rusting.
Storage: If you live in a region with extreme weather, consider covering your firepit when not in use to protect it from the elements.
Parrillas:
Cleaning After Grilling: Clean the grill grates after each use while they are still warm (but not hot). Use a wire brush or grill scraper to remove food residues.
Avoid Soap and Harsh Cleaners: Do not use soap or harsh chemicals on your parrilla, as this can strip the seasoning and damage the metal. Instead, use a mild scrubber or cloth with warm water.
Oil the Grates: To prevent food from sticking, lightly oil the grill grates before each use.

Seasoning is an important step that enhances the performance and longevity of your Ironkast products by creating a protective layer on the steel. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to properly season your steel:
What You’ll Need:
High-quality vegetable oil (canola oil, grapeseed oil, or flaxseed oil work well)
A clean cloth or paper towel
A grill brush or wire brush
Gloves (to protect your hands from heat)
Steps for Seasoning:
Clean the Surface: Before seasoning, ensure that the surface of your smoker, firepit, or parrilla is clean and free of debris. Use a wire brush to scrub the surfaces, especially the grates, to remove any dirt, dust, or factory oils.
Dry the Metal: After cleaning, dry the surfaces completely to prevent any moisture from reacting with the oil.
Apply a Thin Layer of Oil: Using a clean cloth or paper towel, apply a thin layer of high-quality vegetable oil to the surface of the metal. Be sure to coat the entire surface, including the grates and interior parts of the smoker or firepit.
Heat the Item: After the oil is applied, heat your smoker, firepit, or parrilla. For smokers, you can fire it up at a moderate temperature (around 350-400°F). For firepits and parrillas, simply light a small fire and let it burn for an hour or so. This process will allow the oil to bond with the steel and form a protective, non-stick layer.
Repeat the Process: For optimal results, repeat the seasoning process a few times, applying a thin layer of oil and heating the surface each time. This builds up a stronger protective layer.
Let It Cool: After the final seasoning, let your Ironkast product cool completely before using it. You should now have a well-seasoned surface that will help prevent rust, reduce food sticking, and make your equipment easier to clean.

Rust occurs when metal is exposed to moisture for prolonged periods. To prevent rust on your Ironkast products:
Always dry your smoker, firepit, or parrilla after cleaning.
Use oil to season the steel regularly.
Store your equipment in a dry location or cover it when not in use.
If you notice any rust spots, clean them immediately and reapply a thin layer of oil to protect the surface.
-
To ensure your Ironkast products last a lifetime:
Regularly clean and oil the surfaces to prevent rust.
Avoid excessive heat, which can damage the metal and seasoning.
Store your products in a covered or dry area, especially in harsh weather conditions.
Follow the recommended maintenance routine for each specific product to ensure it stays in excellent condition.
